I played Hades, and felt no different about the progress in that than I did in this, but my progress was fast in both and I operate almost purely off of challenge, so I don't speak for everyone by a long shot. :ccskull: Design wise, it's just not a very interesting choice, and there are a lot of people that aren't going to even bother playing on those higher difficultys without the shiny nonsense being offered to them. There is one fight in this game that I'm aware of having an alternate / harder fight, and I do remember being disappointed upon seeing that the other bosses hadn't gained one when it did. Granted something like that is a lot of additional work. Basically completely changing up the boss fights and adding new sprite work. Something to upgrade your weapons with every successful run on your newest heat level definitely makes it worthwhile to keep climbing.Įxtreme Measures is also by far the coolest condition on the pact of punishment. You've played Hades, so it's easy to refer back to it. Might as well grind them out and find out, but the clarification would be nice. The difficulty modifiers in this game exist, but I'm not sure I'm benefiting or working toward earning any un-lockables when I enable them. Never did delve into it's NG+ stuff, and it's had a fair sum of dlc drop. Really been considering picking up it again. If I remember correctly you could get more potion charges and a navigational abilities, but it's a far more skill intensive game than others in the same genre. I just like a stronger sort of meta progression. But I definitely had a harder time staying as engaged. Some options are also definitely weaker than others, but I do like it's end game significantly more than any other roguelike I can think of, for what I'm assuming is the same reason you don't like it.ĭead Cells is a solid game, difficulty definitely up there. My biggest complaint would be not benefiting from putting the heat / difficulty up higher than your current highest and not being able to get some kind of reward out of it.
